Summaries and Customer Reviews provided by Amazon

Summary

Jen Lancaster was living the sweet life-until real life kicked her to the curb.

She had the perfect man, the perfect job-hell, she had the perfect life-and there was no reason to think it wouldn't last. Or maybe there was, but Jen Lancaster was too busy being manicured, pedicured, highlighted, and generally adored to notice.

This is the smart-mouthed, soul-searching story of a woman trying to figure out what happens next when she's gone from six figures to unemployment checks and she stops to reconsider some of the less-than-rosy attitudes and values she thought she'd never have to answer for when times were good.

Filled with caustic wit and unusual insight, it's a rollicking read as speedy and unpredictable as the trajectory of a burst balloon.

Just finished it and LOVED IT!!!!

Rating: Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5

While I was reading this book, I kept thinking to myself, 'Is this really a nonfiction book?'
I couldn't believe all the things Jen Lancaster had to go through to be where she is now.
It was very sad how she struggled to get a job but at the same time, it was entertaining b/c of her sarcastic humor and the way she handled things.
I am definitely going to go buy her other books! :)

one funny b---h

this was one of the funniest books i ever read. i gave it to all my friends. jen lancaster made me long to be her friend. i thank her for sharing her talent and herself.

also, her other books are just as awesome.

if you want to laugh so hard that your stomach hurts, so loud that your husband wants you to share and the possibility that it may make you pee, you will love this too.

I loved this book. I've loved all of Jen Lancaster's other books also. She's hilarious and I love her sarcastic wit. I wish I could be friends with her... it would be great to have someone make me laugh as much as her books do.

Jen is my kind of bitch!

This is what a memoir should be! Funny, touching, totally relatable (even if you don't wear pearls, own pit bulls, or live in trendy upscale rentals). I love that Jen is able to make her journey from six figure inflated salary-uber hard working republican-designer lable diva to scaled down-box wine drinking-dog loving-neighbor spying-republican without ever losing her sense of self or knowledge that most other people are stupid. The journey is fun and painful and such a good read that you can't put it down (except when I was laughing so hard that I had to look for kleenex for the tears streaming down my face!!)

Jen, I so want to be your friend and swill trendy cocktails with you!

All three of Jen's books are fabulous so start here knowing that there are more wonderful memoirs to come! Personally I like this and her third book the best, but they are all worth buying!

Kindle Edition Blows

I hate it that the footnotes don't show up in the Kindle edition. I kind of feel like I got half a book with them being left out!
