Summary

Before this all happened, the closest I'd ever come to getting physical with a guy was playing the board game Operation. Okay, so maybe that sounds pathetic, but it's not like there were any guys at my high school who I cared to share more than three words with, let alone my body.

Then I met Wes, a track star senior from across town. Maybe it was his soulful blue eyes, or maybe my hormones just started raging. Either way, I was hooked. And after a while, he was too. I couldn't believe how intense my feelings became, or the fact that I was seeing—and touching—parts of the body I'd only read about in my Gray's Anatomy textbook. You could say Wes and I experienced a lot of firsts together that spring. It was scary. It was fun. It was love.

And then came the fall.

no forever...

Rating: Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2

I think Snadowsky tries her hardest to capture the nostalgia and reality of first times and heartbreak. However, her story falls flat with little creativity and originality.

Anatomy of a Boyfriend is the poor girls Forever... by Judy Blume. The parallels are there and still it lacks the spunk of the original. Yes, it has a modern day twist (IM, e-mail, fellatio etc.) but still, Mrs. Daria Snadowsky, that does not make it stand out, or rather worth the read. I suggest this author find a niche or writing style before pursuing other nostalgic classics. All in all it was something I read and will forget.

I gave it two stars because it was quirky at times, overly descriptive (which I enjoy), and realistic about my generation and today's youth. What the heck? If you're a teenage girl who has not discovered sex for yourself yet or are bored and want something contemporary to entertain... give this book a turn.

Wow!

I liked this book a lot. Daria wasn't afraid of what people were going to say about her book - she wrote anyway. I've heard this book related to Judy Blume's Forever, which I haven't read, but from what I've read, they are similar, this is just a more modern version of it.

The writing was really nice. It wasn't forced, and it wasn't paced slow. It kept me wanting to read it at all times until I finished; it seemed to never have a lull moment.

The characters were written nicely, and you can tell by the end that the main character did grow, she didn't keep the same personality or the same outlook on life, she changed, and I really liked the character growth.

I really don't want to say anymore, because I'm afraid that I'm going to give out spoilers, but I really did enjoy this one.

Suprisingly Realistic

Although I picked this up as a YA novel I think this book does more than that. I was drawn into the stories and the characters. The story, though off pace at points, was very realistic. i truly felt for Dom and saw real life situations I'd been in mirrored in the book. Truly a great read. Sad to be sure, but important for anyone in, or considering, a long distance relationship.

This Decade's Forever...

I was a bad girl. I read this book a LONG time ago, probably towards the end of summer. Then I wrote a review and lost it. Then I kept saying "Gee, I should probably write another review." Yeah, that didn't work to well. So, Daria Snadowsky, I apologize for taking so long to review your book!

But, even though some of the details aren't clear anymore, I remember racing through this book. I couldn't put it down. But, I also refused to take it out of my room, because it made me giggle every five seconds, and if someone were to catch me reading it, I would be embarrassed for life.

Dom was so easy to relate to. She had depth and wasn't just some crazy hormone-driven slut. Amy was absolutely hilarious. Wes, on the other hand, is an absolute idiot. Of course, I didn't actually realize that until halfway through the book because I, like Dom, thought he was some ridiculously sexy and perfect guy. NOT. Really, though, isn't that what makes this book so real? Ridiculously sexy guys aren't perfect and they WILL break your hot. It happens. It's life.

I've seen a lot of people compare Anatomy to Judy Blume's Forever... I read Forever... way before I was supposed, when I shouldn't have even known about half that stuff but I loved it. Just like I loved Anatomy. Both books had relateable characters, real-life situations, and never got too graphic.

There's really not much else I can say about this book. I absolutely adored it and I recommend it thoroughly. HOWEVER, due to content, I recommend this for mature teens only!

Hm

Well, I had no idea how graphic and descriptive this book was when starting it. I also had a hard time relating to what the characters were thinking and talking about. Me and my girlfriends never talk about sex that openly and normally as the girls in this book talk or think like. Minus those two things, I actually enjoyed the story because I believe that not all relationships are going to work, especially after high school. This book makes that an obvious point at the end. No it's not that best book I've ever read but I have read worse.
