Excellent text book
We had this text for a second year Physical Geography course at UAF. It was a great text. Easy to read, yet very complete. It certainly covers the basics: bio-litho-hydo and atmo.. spheres, and their inter-relationships. It does this in a very readable and engaging manner. If you are looking for a course book, I highly recommend it. The prof who teaches the course is great, so take this with a grain of salt, but together - every semester the two of them together (book and prof) snag a few new geography majors and minors for the department.
Finally, I am in my last year here, taking some pretty advanced courses in ecology, biology, soils and climate; and every now and then when I need a broad but detailed overview, I refer back to this text in order to refresh that "Big Picture." It's definately a keeper.
