Now his complete service and maintenance procedures, with expert advice and troubleshooting tips, are available to you. A sampling of areas covered in the book are listed below: Theory: How each system works How to troubleshoot problems and service each system What tools and equipment are needed How engine idle speed is controlled and can be adjusted How to adjust air-fuel mixture Understanding air measurement and fuel metering How engine management systems adjust timing for gasoline octane and turbo boost Racing and high performance modifications: what works and what doesn't Probst clarifies advantages and operating principles of each Bosch system and explains how they work to deliver maximum engine efficiency. He also gives you high-performance tuning secrets that really work to deliver maximum engine efficiency. He also gives you high-performance tuning secrets that really work for street and racing applications, and tells you why some tricks like "fooling" the computer don't. With over 350 detailed illustrations and photos, this 224 page book is a must-have reference for do-it-yourself mechanics, performance enthusiasts, and professional technicians who really want to understand Bosch systems. A good addition for a CIS troubleshooter... | Customer Rating: | | I can't speak to the other Bosch systems, but anybody who owns a CIS Porsche and is interested in understanding (stock up on beer) and troubleshooting the Bosch CIS will benefit from this book. Since I bought this book for my SC with CIS, I now also have a Turbo with CIS, and so I expect this book to stay with me forever. | The theory from the creators | Customer Rating: | | So, now you finally know how it is really made.. From the engineers of the systems, this is the definitive theory. It does not tell you how to increase your mileage, nor is it the best troubleshooting guide out there. The basics are really detailed and it makes you see how it works. Must have for Bosch FI cars (Jetronic/Motronic) | excellent starting point for working onBosch EFI systems | Customer Rating: | For anyone tinkering with an EFI engine, this book is great for learning the principles of operation. Even better if you've got a pre-1992 Bosch system because it goes through the components of these systems.
Starts with overall injection theory, explains the "families" of fuel injection, then how to troubleshoot problems. It finishes by talking about the implications of modifying your EFI engine. It's not a guide for how to get maximum power from Engine X, but it explains the benefits and limitations of the bosch systems for modified engines.
The naming of Motronic systems are confusing, but this is Bosch's fault as much as anything else. | Bosch Fuel injection and Engine Management | Customer Rating: | | A good general overview of the Bosch fuel injection systems but no diagnostic help for the ECM or ECU for the L-Jetronic. This is disappointing, you would think that these authors could tell you how to check the various functions of the control unit. If you want a light read with no real help, go for it. | Good Technical Detail for All Levels of Experience | Customer Rating: | | Excellent technical and theoretical detail. As an engineer, but as someone new to learning about injection systems, this book offers a perfect balance between troubleshooting and "Service Manual" detail, and extensive background theory. Use for learning about any injection system, whether Bosch or not. Only slight downside - the edition I got doesn't cover much hardware after the mid 90's - I understand the Author is no longer with us - any chance someone could carry on the good work? |
