Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Walking around New York City was what Mitty Blake did best. He loved the city, and even after 9/11, he always felt safe. Mitty was a carefree guy–he didn’t worry about terrorists or blackouts or grades or anything, which is why he was late getting started on his Advanced Bio report. Mitty does feel a little pressure to hand something in–if he doesn’t, he’ll be switched out of Advanced Bio, which would be unfortunate since Olivia’s in Advanced Bio. So he considers it good luck when he finds some old medical books in his family’s weekend house that focus on something he could write about. But when he discovers an old envelope with two scabs in one of the books, the report is no longer about the grade–it’s about life and death. His own. This edge-of-your-seat thriller will leave you breathless.
From the Hardcover edition. AWESOME BOOK | Customer Rating: | | i love that the book gets into the storyline quickly and everything in this book. friends, loves, letters, and the books Mitty found. Well thought about and hard to put down book. You WILL love it. | The danger of insufficient knowledge | Customer Rating: | Teen put into peril after posting on the Internet, his discovery of old scabs from a Smallpox epidemic.
I found this somewhat believable, as both the boy and his terrioist captors, do not know enough about Smallpox.
Parents should read first, as the resolution may be objectionable to some, or need discussion. | My 6th grader loves this book! | Customer Rating: | | My 6th grade son hates to read but he absolutely loved this book! He takes it everywhere with him, even the car. I highly recommend it for boys who love adventure or mystery books. | Excellent | Customer Rating: | | This is an outstanding book. Very contemporary and the students who have read it with me highly recommend it. The references are current and the topic is very real. I would recommend this to any high school student and to all health classes! | It is not the book, but rather the company | Customer Rating: | | I inadvertantly ordered $330 dollars worth of the subject book. When I realized my error I contacted Amazon and told them of the mistake and asked them to credit my account immediately. They could not do this of course although to my mind it was their convoluted site that caused me to order more than I wanted. I contacted the FTC but they were no more responsive than Amazon. At no time did I speak to anyone other than computer generated messages, a situation probably designed by the Amazon people. I stressed that I had returned the books and that it was a hardship to have over $330 paid out of my banking account--more computer generated responses. I am buying more books however, all from vendors other than Amazon. |
