Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Too long | Customer Rating: | | I usually love long novels because I love to read, and a longer novel allows more time for plot and character development. This is a long novel, but the story could have been told in about half the time to my way of thinking. I didn't like the ending because it left two large issues outstanding. I realize there is another book after this one, but I am certainly not interested enough to wade through another long book to see if some answers are received to what happened in this book. It is also a book where I absolutely disliked the narrator. Rob (Adam) Ryan is not portrayed in a good light in this book. He is a self-involved, conceited wreck of a man with a past that he can't face, and a present where he can't make lasting relationships. He turns everyone against him by the end of the book, including the reader. After reading the reviews on the cover I expected so much more from this book and am totally disappointed with it. Who really cares what happened to poor little Adam in the woods so long ago? | Waaaay too many words | Customer Rating: | | Sounded like a good book, but I got frustrated with all the words and felt the story would've been fine with about half the flowery descriptions. After listening to the 6th cd, I started fast forwarding, then jumped to the last 2 cds. | Great writing, not so great story | Customer Rating: | Well developed characters and a couple of good storylines. Unfortunately, only one is resolved by the end of the book and while that one finishes up nicely, the other one is the one I really wanted to know about. During the reading I thought..what is this going to be a story like "the Blair Witch Project"...am I finally going to figure out what happened to the kids???? Great writing but ultimately disappointing. | Loved this book | Customer Rating: | | This is truly a book that is difficult to put down. I was constantly pulled back in by the twists and turns. I hope to see these characters again and again and to someday learn the answers to my questions. | Didn't Like it | Customer Rating: | | I thought this book was very disappointing. It was boring and the ending was a complete let-down. THere were two mysteries side - by -side and my thought throughout the book was that I was supposed to find out if they were connected or not...that never happens. It's like reading a mystery and never finding out the answer after sticking with a book that is not all that interesting. Bummer. |
