Murphy himself can’t be sure what he did or didn’t do during the years he spent mourning and lost in an alcohol-induced fog. He does know he occasionally sought solace from Hannah Whitfield, a former police officer and the very friend who’d introduced him to his beloved late wife.
But Hannah, still grappling with the deafness that resulted from an injury sustained while on duty, was fighting her own battles. For years Hannah had feelings for Murphy, and one painful night their suffering brought them together in a way neither expected–and both regretted.

| Customer Rating: | | # 13 is ideed a winner! Brockmann, just keeps getting better. Her characters are stronger than ever and it is wonderful to hear from old friends/characters as they are woven back into this novel. The compelling story line is indicative of significant research as the plot ties into world events & her sub plots keep me asking for more! (When is Izzy's & Eden's story going to continue...?) Like with a Nora Robert's novel, I start to get anxious as the book nears the end, as I really don't want the tale to be finished! (Brockmann's use of the epilogue helps.) I highly recommend this novel for contemporary mystery fans w/an underlay of romance. |
Worth the wait
| Customer Rating: | | I anxiously await the next book in this series everytime I finish one. This book was awesome. I read it every chance I got and couldn't put it down. At first the jumping around from location and story was a pain, but all of the different stories were interesting and kept my attention. Especially Murphy and Hanna. We have had references to him in other books and his story did not disappoint. I hope this series continues for a long time. |

Solid New Addition to the Troubleshooters Series
| Customer Rating: | | This particular novel is primarily the story of Vinh Murphy and Hannah Whitfield. Vinh is basically a man out of control with grief over the death of his wife Angelina, who was killed in Hot Target (Troubleshooters, Book 8); Hannah was Angelina's AND Vinh's best friend and the person who introduced them to each other. The characters all have some type of issue going on and I truly love how the people in this series are so flawed yet strong. I highly recommend people reading this series in order. You've got to make sure that when you sit down to read a troubleshooters novel that you've got at least an hour to devote. As usual there are several plots, several couples, and several time periods involved; however, this is the reason I love this series. |
Nothing Says Love Like Maroon 5
| Customer Rating: | Finally,more about Decker and Izzy...I couldn't be happier. I've been waiting,unpatiently,for a story that involves more of Decker and Izzy but I never expected to get even more about Dave,Sophia,Nash,and Tess. I've missed these characters so much and I'm so happy to have them back. I never expected Ms. Brockmann to throw Eden Gillman,Danny Gillman's sister,into the mix as well. The relationship between she and Izzy was just starting to grow but she just kept lying and acting like a whore. I mean,granted,she's always used sex as a weapon but I just wish you would've been honest...I always wish the same for Izzy.
I enjoyed reading more about Murphy and I've been wondering about him since the end of Hot Target. I loved reading his and Hannah's story but I'll admit that I loved the sub plots more. I can't wait to read more about all the secondary characters. This series keeps getting better and better...I own every book so far and it's going to stay that way. |
