I like most of Ms. Hart's books but this one wasn't one of them.It was way to long (480 pages)and you knew what to except of every plot before it happened. A lot of history about Mexico and the earthquake in San Francisco, to much for me. The heroin is childish and doesn't believe anything that is said to her by the hero. The hero is lovable compared to the heroin. Not a keeper. Once read is enough. I skipped a lot of pages just to finish it.

Brandon has loves Laurel all his life same for Laurel but her father hates the Prescott family because of something that happened year before. Brandon kidnaps Laurel because she keeps refusing to marry him. She wants her father's blessing. He won't give it. Brandon take her to Mexico and marries her. Or are they? Brandon takes his "bride" to San Francisco. They get caught in the earthquake and each thinks the other is dead. She returns home pregnant. Finding out she is with child and not really married the father is livid from what she tells him. He wants her to give the baby up when it is born he doesn't want any baby of Brandon's in his house. Of course she would never give up the baby. Brandon finds out Laurel is a live and comes home to claim her and it's a free for all. Who wins? Does anyone lose? Read it and find out.
