ENJOYABLE TEACHING TOOL | Customer Rating: | | My grandson received this book as a gift and I had to have one. We recently moved to a home with a yard full of trees and bushes, a great habitat to attract and feed birds. I have been able to identify some of them by their song and the gorgeous pictures displayed in this book. I believe I have just developed a new and enjoyable hobby. | "The Bird Says....." | Customer Rating: | The first copy of this book I received did not work. It was a birthday gift so we were very disappointed. We exchanged the book and the replacement works just fine. This book is good for the casual backyard watcher, but I think the hard core bird watcher would want a little more. Sound clips were a bit short. Sound quality is moderate.
It reminds me of those old pull string things I had when I was a kid. "The cow says.... moooooo" etcetera. This book is a lot like those games, only with a lot more sounds.
We like it and it has been helpful. I would give it a 4 star, but the first copy didn't work. I took off another star for poor quality. | Appropriate gift for avid birdwatchers | Customer Rating: | | This was a gift for avid birdwatchers who still seemed pleased with the book; I'd heard the author speak about it, and how as we get older sometimes seeing the markings birders depend on gets harder, and how useful knowing the songs can be. Our recipients reported delight so that seems to confirm the appropriateness of book for all levels of birders. | Backyard Birdsong Guide | Customer Rating: | | The product arrived quickly, however the batteries that came with it were dead which was not satisfactory. | Offering an interactive format in audio word as well as written language and visual images | Customer Rating: | Any home library strong in field guides probably has more than one bird book; but this is something different, offering an interactive format in audio word as well as written language and visual images. Some seventy unique birds from Western North America are featured, in a book which offers one-touch buttons of digital audios to pair with descriptions of songs, calls and behaviors. Home birders who want to identify by more than pictures will find this an easy, appealing guide with a difference.
