Fourfold Path to healing | Customer Rating: | | The Fourfold Path to Healing is the book that I have been waiting for for 30 years! I have always maintained that there was a better way to health than our present system of pills. Dietary advice from the government and popular media almost destroyed my health and that of my family. We went from healthy to chronically ill, obese, hypertensive and depressed. Just one week of partial implementation of the principles in this book has raised my energy level, reduced pain, started the process of weight loss and reduced blood pressure, and banished depression. It will take at least a year to achieve my goals, but by my 60th birthday I will be totally healthy and happy again. Thank you Dr. Cowan! | Fourfold Path to Healing | Customer Rating: | | I am a student of Naturopathy and had to buy this book after checking it out of the library. Cowan is masterful in presenting a true wholistic healing approach. Having studied the work of many healing masters, I find that his work is solid and rational. I will use his book as a resource and as inspiration. | More mystical hogwosh than good science | Customer Rating: | I have enjoyed Nourishing Traditions, by Sally Fallon, so I bought Cowan's book b/c it is advertised as a "companion" to Fallon's book. Fallon's book is an objective assessment of the often misleading information out there about nutrition. Her book is clearly presented and backed by copious notes. I was hoping Cowan's book was equally objective and convincing. Well, the best chapter is the one written by Fallon!
Cowan's book is weakened by his reliance on the theories of Rudolf Steiner, guru of "anthroposophy". Whatever contributions Steiner may have(or may not have) made to the field of education, his scientific theories are just goofy. Cowan bases his entire book on Steiner's four bodies or spheres of activity, which correspond to the four "kingdoms" or "elements" of body as forwarded by the medievalists 7 centuries ago. Okay, this stuff is for fairy tales! If the Steiner slant had been made clear on the back cover, I would not have purchased the book. | I recommend this book to anyone who wants to live a long and healthy life. | Customer Rating: | | This is a wonderful addition to the already popular "Nourishing Traditions". It takes it a step beyond and shows how to heal yourself in all aspects of your life. Wonderfully written, I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel good and live a long and healthy life. | The Fourfold Path to Healing: | Customer Rating: | | This is an enlightening book with a need for the reader to keep an open mind. I had borrowed this book from a friend and I felt it was worth buying. It gave a different approach to nutrition and more information on nutrition then what I ever learned in nursing school. I will say, some of the other info. tends to bend towards TM of which I do not believe in. Buy this book and learn a lot! |
