Not exactly a step-by-step lesson book
Customer Rating:  Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3
The title of this book can be a little misleading. It doesn't give much of a step-by-step approach and it doesn't explain well enough to understand. This book is good for people who are a lot more advance and want more knowledge about their playing. And for those who want to learn some good acoustic songs, this book will be the right one for you. But I strongly suggest for those who are new, get a guitar instructor to teach you the proper way of playing these songs. Trust me; it will save you from struggling.

A honest book. Good riffs(38) and least four great transcriptions from the complete seven ones:
Dust in the Wind, Angie , Here comes the Sun and Cross Road Blues, who pays the book.
I recenttly bought The Fingerpicking Beatles from Hal Leonard and I can say that only one music can be useful : Blackbird(excelent)...the rest has no sense at all.

**READ BEFORE BUYING THIS BOOK!!!This book is a SUPPLEMENT not a COMPLETE COURSE!!**

I am writing this review of this book because i see alot of reviews decrying it because it isn't for beginners.this book is a SUPPLEMENT to the Hal Leonard guitar method which IS for beginners(it even says so on the cover!)this means that it isn't a stand alone course of study, it's meant to be studied in CONJUNCTION WITH the Hal leonard guitar method course which is excellent.i suggest studying the hal leonard guitar method books 1-3 or the complete edition with books 1-3 in one volume first, THEN this book to get best results.

That about says it all.

I got this guide with lessons to be self taught, before I decided to enter a Guitar beginners class at the local college.

Found out later that the instructor was using a Hal Leonard instruction book too.

It IS an outstanding source for anyone interested in learning how to play guitar beyond by ear.

Don't need to know how to read music, it teaches you at your pace, and with the number of notes and chords applied to Guitar(s) (Acoustic, Classical, or Electric)

One thing I've learned in the short time I've been practicing. If you are interested in learning to play an electric guitar, than I'd suggest getting both an inexpensive starter acoustic and an electric (or in that order). Why?

The strings on an acoustic guitar require more finger strength than an electric, especially for beginners. If you master or are comfortable with the steel or classical strings of an acoustic YOU will be much better and easier to apply what you've learned to an electric guitar.

Not too bad.

The book is not for beginners. You have to have a little more experience in notes before you take up this book. It is also not a step-by-step lesson. Basically it's a song book. It's good none the less.
